I’m a bad news first person, so I’ll make it quick. No SXSW appearance this year. Just didn’t make sense after most of our labels weren’t having a huge presence. Meh…next year maybe.

As of today, the record is complete and has been submitted to Relapse Records for international distribution, (including Vinyl format). We’ve entitled the record “Ox” and it will include 14 new songs totaling roughly 35 minutes. Ed Rose at Blacklodge Studios recorded and mixed the record, and Mike Fossenkemper at Turtle Tone mastered it. The guys at Invisible Creature are presently finishing the artwork and packaging. We’re hoping for a release date sometime between April and May. The exact date will be made public as soon as we have one.
We are currently planning tours for each US coast as well as SXSW and some over seas jaunts. We also plan on attending a few festivals in an effort to play in areas that may not fit into our tour schedules.
In an effort to make room for new Ox merchandise, Blue Collar Distro has discounted almost all of the stock available at our online store. Many of our recent clothing designs are on sale, some at prices lower than cost. If you have any interest, check it out HERE.
For those of you who have contacted us online or at our shows during the past year and half with encouragement regarding your anticipation of the record, we apologize for how long it has taken us to put it all together. We sincerely appreciate all the support you have given us and we’re trying to do as much coalesce as our schedules will allow.
Hey guys, we are shocked at how beautiful these things came out. Expertly printed and die cut from vgkids.com, this brings new life to this classic release. Full Color breakdown is as follows:
218 180 Gram
268 White/Silver Color in Color
268 Translucent Blue/Opaque Orange Splatter (Band Exclusive)
268 Clear w/ White/Translucent Red Speckle
268 Translucent Red w/ Black & Silver Splatter
The Coalesce store has the exclusive on the Blue/Opaque Orange splatter version. We have them in the store and they are ready to ship as early as tomorrow. You will not find this color version in any physical store, or other online store, so grab them here now while you can, there are around 200 up for grabs.
As an added bonus (well to sean anyways, since he always wanted on of these), we are doing a bonus package as well. We made a limited amount of coffee mugs with the foi art to go with the 10 year anniversary release. Only around 60 or so. They are not available by themselves, and we are not remaking them to our knowledge, so if you like coffee, and loud music with people screaming, get the combo package. It will ship later than if you just get the record though. Mugs should be in the week of the 18th and ship as soon as they come in.No comments
So we holed up in black lodge studios last week to start tracking on our new record. Five days of crash and bang and we’re now 15 songs deep. We’re happy with the first round, but we’re far from finished. Whiskey and westerns inspired; harsh and fast happened. (that’s what she said…) We feel like we’ve caught some great moments so far, and, if we’re lucky, we’ll catch a few more before it’s all over. We don’t expect to have anything up and ready for listening until late fall, but we’ll keep you all updated as things progress. What are you all up to?
Hey everyone, Sorry for the redirect to myspace last week. I submitted to the fact that myspace owns 90% of the band internet presence. Last time we checked that was something like 3 million bands on myspace? There is no denying that myspace is super helpful with communication, but I’m not ready to put all of our eggs in that basket. So I’ve come back to crashandbang.com to try and find that virus some jerk put in the comments, and get us off of google’s black list. As far as we can tell, there is no virus on this site, downloading scary things into your computer. Some spammer put some code in a commenet box, and google freaked out. We found the offending comments and are in the process of getting off the list now.
Also some changes to our vinyl history page. A really cool coalesce fan named Joseph Proffitt put together an amazing visual vinyl discography on photobucket. If you go to our vinyl history page, there are links to all 6 right at the top of the page. We thank you so much Joseph!
We were also alerted by our fans that there was a second pressing of the new 012:2 record. We have it as 1 press only, as that’s what we were told. If you are into vinyl, you might check it out.
We start recording next month, that’s right. The new record will start to have a more permanent life in July. We haven’t decided how we are going to announce the title and all the details, so we are going to keep them under wraps for the time being. But, fyi, it’s happening, and ofcourse Mr. Rose is who is at the charge with us.
That’s it for now, more as the new LP develops. No comments

It’s with sincere apologies that we announce that circumstances have arisen which will prevent us from being able to play this year’s Hellfest in Clisson, France. Two of the members in the band, in spite of how bad they want to go to France, have recently had to make employment commitments for the very weekend of the festival. Given the schedule we have put into effect so as to keep our various responsibilities in order while writing and recording the new record, it is simply not possible for us to make the trip to France that weekend in June.
For those of you in Europe who were planning on coming to the festival to see us, please know that your wanting to see us could not possibly be as intense as our wanting to go to Europe (a trip that we’ve watched all of our peer groups make over the years, while still not having made it ourselves). To assure you that we will eventually make it to Europe, it’s important to note that one of the principle motivations in writing this new record is the chance to travel abroad, especially to Europe and Japan. So if we can keep the writing and recording schedule we have in place, then the new album should (hopefully) be out by the end of 2008, which means that 2009 will be a year “full” (by our reckoning) of coalesce live shows including dates in Europe and Japan.
We’re completely puzzled at why Fate has kept us from playing this festival again, but we can’t emphasize enough that the cancellation is in no way related to any intra-band personal struggles (such that another break-up is on the horizon), or in any way related to our not wanting to go to Europe. It’s just that non-coalesce related circumstances have come up that are simply preventing us from being able to take off that weekend in particular.
Again, our deepest apologies to those of you who were planning on coming to see us, and especially to the promoters of the show who were doing everything they could to get us out there and graciously extended an invitation for us to play in 2009. Who knows? Maybe that will be the year we finally play a Hellfest…. Third time’s a charm?2 comments
We still don’t have a release date, but we can confirm that Relapse is doing both a cd version and an LP version. The LP version will be limited, and here is a heads up exclusive for you vinyl nerds (like Sean).
limited run of 1000 LPs only.
400 Half light blue + half w/dark blue and red splatter
300 dark blue w/grey splatter (whole lp)
300 ½ blue + ½ black
Invisible Creature finished the art, and the band is stoked. Here is a shot. Check out their other work by clicking here.
As an added bonus for other iPhone junkies, here is an iPhone wallpaper to enjoy (without text and advertising to ruin the radness of this art). Just right click on the phote and save to your desktop and then get it on your iPhone. Enjoy!
Hey Folks, just a few updates as the busy holiday season has snuck up on us.
First off, we have restocked our online store, and added a one time run, limited edition of Gas Jackets with the iconic looking salt art on them. There are not many of these made, and they are not being made again, so I would grab one quick. They are priced low, and if you remember how bands used to print their art on used gas jackets, then you’ll know how rad these things are. Ofcourse no one in the band can wear one, as they would be nicknamed “Captain Coalesce” as Sean was back when. You can buy a jacket by clicking HERE.
Relapse Records is also Reissuing the 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening record with new Mastering, and all new packaging. We are in love with Dan Henks original painting (plus the band just plain loves that guy personally), and it is included in the new packaging, but to breathe new life into this out of print LP, Band friends, the Clarks (from Invisible Creature and Demon Hunter), are doing a complete rework of the concept from the ground up. When they asked Sean what he wanted to see, the answer was “Do your thing, I have no input”. So you know this thing is going to rule if Sean trusts them enough to represent the band with no interference. They recently did the new Foo Fighters artwork, so I know you’ve seen their work. Expect the repress early next year, as all the deadlines are mid December to get it in to the label.
If you haven’t gotten a Salt and Passage 7″ yet, now is the time to do so, it’s almost out of press, and when they are gone, that’s it. It was a low pressing of 7″‘s to begin with, so don’t say we didn’t warn you. After that, our records seem to find a home on ebay for stupid amounts. Don’t be that guy.
The DVD red version is almost gone too, so if you want to kill someone with 10+ hours of coalesce playing live, get on it, because the future of this long awaited release is up in the air as well.
And lastly, Sean’s Dad fell victim to a heart attack. He lived but needs open heart surgery. Sean is taking him to Columbia, Mo. this month, and seriously asks anyone with a moment to keep Bob Ingram in their prayers for a successfull surgery.
Thats all for now, but to answer any chatter on the internets, yes the band is currently still writing for the new Full Length due in late 08/ early 09. Jes has been flying in to Kansas City to continue the writing process, and it’s going well. The band could not be happier with what’s happening with the material, and the excitement level from all members has been set to 11 the entire time. So if you are a fan, and are worried that they are going to “break up” or loose interest, take note that it has not been the case.1 comment
