We are touring with Harvey Milk and The Atlas Moth!

57487677.jpgWe didn’t get to do many American shows last year, due to us spending our vacation time in Europe (I know poor us right?).  This year however, we are blowing all of our vaction time on you, the American Hardcore fans.  This year, we seriously lucked out.  We are embarking on 2 tours this year that will have us east to west, and even Canada.  The first tour we are doing is with the amazing Harvey Milk and Atlas Moth.  Dates are as follow…
Mar 5 2010   Rex Theatre w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Mar 6 2010   Kung Fu Necktie w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Mar 7 2010   The Ottobar w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Baltimore, Maryland
Mar 8 2010   Le Poisson Rouge w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    New York City, New York
Mar 9 2010   Middle East Downstairs w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Cambridge, Massachusetts
Mar 10 2010  Il Motore w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Montréal, Quebec
Mar 11 2010   Wreck Room w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Toronto, Ontario
Mar 12 2010   Small’s w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Hamtramck, Michigan
Mar 13 2010   Subterranean w/ Harvey Milk & The Atlas Moth    Chicago, Illinois

There are already some rumors about our other tour later this spring, but it’s nothing but rumors at this point.  I can tell you that we planned our tours to where we could get across the entire united states and not loose our day jobs.  So in short, if you are waiting for a Coalesce show in the nyc area, come see us with Harvey Milk and the Atlas moth, because we won’t be back later on another tour.

americantop.jpegHey all, this is pretty exciting for us local KC/Lawrence folks.  Our old buddy Terry Taylor has cooked up a metal music weekend featuring Regional bands.  Very cool to see someone putting their neck out to support Punk and Metal in the Heartland.  Click Here for more details.  This is right before our record is released, so I’m pretty sure this is going to be the first place you can get the new “OX” record in hard format.  Not making any promises, but we’ve always had product in hand several weeks before our release dates.  Please check it out, and let’s do this!

I’m a bad news first person, so I’ll make it quick.  No SXSW appearance this year.  Just didn’t make sense after most of our labels weren’t having a huge presence.  Meh…next year maybe.

Note: possible Show on the 15th in Iceland.

The Year of the OX, 2009.

As of today, the record is complete and has been submitted to Relapse Records for international distribution, (including Vinyl format).  We’ve entitled the record “Ox” and it will include 14 new songs totaling roughly 35 minutes.  Ed Rose at Blacklodge Studios recorded and mixed the record, and Mike Fossenkemper at Turtle Tone mastered it.  The guys at Invisible Creature are presently finishing the artwork and packaging.  We’re hoping for a release date sometime between April and May.  The exact date will be made public as soon as we have one.

We are currently planning tours for each US coast as well as SXSW and some over seas jaunts.  We also plan on attending a few festivals in an effort to play in areas that may not fit into our tour schedules.

In an effort to make room for new Ox merchandise, Blue Collar Distro has discounted almost all of the stock available at our online store.  Many of our recent clothing designs are on sale, some at prices lower than cost.  If you have any interest, check it out HERE.

For those of you who have contacted us online or at our shows during the past year and half with encouragement regarding your anticipation of the record, we apologize for how long it has taken us to put it all together.  We sincerely appreciate all the support you have given us and we’re trying to do as much coalesce as our schedules will allow.

Coalesce has to cancel French Hellfest Appearance (bummer!).

It’s with sincere apologies that we announce that circumstances have arisen which will prevent us from being able to play this year’s Hellfest in Clisson, France.  Two of the members in the band, in spite of how bad they want to go to France, have recently had to make employment commitments for the very weekend of the festival.  Given the schedule we have put into effect so as to keep our various responsibilities in order while writing and recording the new record, it is simply not possible for us to make the trip to France that weekend in June.

For those of you in Europe who were planning on coming to the festival to see us, please know that your wanting to see us could not possibly be as intense as our wanting to go to Europe (a trip that we’ve watched all of our peer groups make over the years, while still not having made it ourselves).  To assure you that we will eventually make it to Europe, it’s important to note that one of the principle motivations in writing this new record is the chance to travel abroad, especially to Europe and Japan.  So if we can keep the writing and recording schedule we have in place, then the new album should (hopefully) be out by the end of 2008, which means that 2009 will be a year “full” (by our reckoning) of coalesce live shows including dates in Europe and Japan.

We’re completely puzzled at why Fate has kept us from playing this festival again, but we can’t emphasize enough that the cancellation is in no way related to any intra-band personal struggles (such that another break-up is on the horizon), or in any way related to our not wanting to go to Europe.  It’s just that non-coalesce related circumstances have come up that are simply preventing us from being able to take off that weekend in particular.

Again, our deepest apologies to those of you who were planning on coming to see us, and especially to the promoters of the show who were doing everything they could to get us out there and graciously extended an invitation for us to play in 2009.  Who knows?  Maybe that will be the year we finally play a Hellfest…. Third time’s a charm?

That don’t make no sense

Ladies and Gentlemen, the talented Jes Steineger!
